CSR For Everyone

Any company or enterprise can practice corporate social responsibility. Today’s companies are becoming more responsible and practicing sustainability in ever more creative ways. For many of the CSR companies examples we have examined, hiring young talent is vital. Millennials are not just looking for a place to work. They want to be part of something bigger than themselves, something that will make the world a better place. Younger workers and recent college graduates need to know that their work has a purpose. The purpose might be bringing people together, increasing access to resources, teaching life skills to clients, or arranging funding for impact entrepreneurship projects. There are other purposes, too, and CSR companies examples are finding new ones every day. One established company that has tied its mission and purpose to the concept of CSR is the design company IDEO. IDEO knows that recruiting young talent is the lifeblood of any business.

Solving Problems With Creativity

IDEO has a long history of success, having been in business since 1991. You might say that IDEO’s founder, David Kelley, wrote the book on creative problem solving. The book is called Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All. Kelley co-authored the book with his brother Tom, who is also an IDEO partner. In the book, the brothers explain why the best business people follow their hearts in making decisions. Following the heart, of course, is part of an overall strategy to make revenue and keep the business going. But the Kelleys warn that focusing exclusively on revenue is not a good way to attract and retain young talent.

Teaching Others to Succeed

In addition to its design work, IDEO has branched out into management consulting and organizational design. The company is taking the lessons it has learned over the past 26 years and helping other businesses apply them. These companies benefit by becoming CSR companies examples on their own terms.

IDEO helps young people and other businesses learn to use their creativity for problem solving. The Kelley brothers’ book is a valuable tool that anyone can purchase and read. IDEO is a perfect example of a forward thinking CSR company, and there are many lessons to be learned from their success.
